No worries

Thumbs up to the staff of the Jackson County Health Department COVID-19 vaccination clinic for their service, efficiency and professionalism. They were very helpful when I had my first dose Tuesday (Jan. 12). It went well. There were no issues and I found nothing to worry about.

Oscar Olivares, Seymour

First in class

Thumbs up to the Brownstown Central Community School Corp. Students of the Month for December. The three students recently recognized during a board of school trustees meeting are Brownstown Elementary School fifth-grader Dylan Toppe; Brownstown Central Middle School eighth-grader Brynn Burton; and Brownstown Central High School senior Jared Thomas.

Star scorers

Thumbs up to the three Jackson County high school basketball players who joined an elite group of those scoring more than 1,000 points during a career. The three are Brownstown Central High School senior guard Katherine Benter, Seymour High School senior guard Grace Meyer and Trinity Lutheran High School senior guard Tyler Goecker, who also became the school’s leading career scorer in boys basketball.

Top reserve

Thumbs up to Uniontown resident Greg Murphy, who recently was named the Jerry Hounshel Reserve Officer of the Year for the second year in a row. Murphy earned the award for the 22 years he has spent volunteering to protect and serve the county as a reserve police officer for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
