Tyler Goecker of the Trinity Lutheran basketball team was nominated as the District III boys player of the week for Dec. 7-12 for his play.

Goecker had a 31-point game during the time period against West Washington.

Also, the Cougars’ Bailey Tabeling was nominated for the weekly honor administered by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association for a second time.

She was in the category for girls District III.

Tableling has regularly topped 20 points in games thus far this season.

New Holiday C Team Basketball Tournament

Trinity Lutheran will host the "Inaugural Airbud Holiday Classic," named after long-time school official Aaron Ginsberg Dec. 29-30.

This is a tournament for boys C teams. Pool A includes host Trinity, Salem and Jennings County and Pool B features Providence, Switzerland County and South Dearborn in the six-team event

Trophies will be awarded for first and second. The entry fee for teams is $100.

The champion in the tourney will be crowned in a 3:30 p.m. game Dec. 30.

Trinity will play its first game at 9 a.m. Dec. 29 versus Salem and its second game at noon against Jennings County.
