Nellie Marie Weddell, age 90, of Medora, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at Autumn Trace, Seymour.

Nellie was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Medora.

She was a homemaker and she also held a few secretarial positions. Nellie was a member of Eastern Star and Theta Omega Chapter, Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She loved spending time with her family and dancing with her husband. She also loved planting and maintaining her beautiful flower gardens, playing Euchre, doing crossword puzzles, watching old movies, sewing, crocheting, painting, and making quilts on an antique quilting frame. Nellie was a 1948 Brownstown High School graduate and enjoyed working on the 1948 class reunions.

Born on October 15, 1930, in Brownstown, she was the daughter of Howard and Ruby Elliott Reynolds, both of whom preceded her in death. On October 16, 1948, at Brownstown Christian Church, she married Melvin M. Weddell and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2018.

Survivors include two daughters: Brenda L. Weddell of Seymour and Janice (Larry) Claycamp of Seymour; one sister, Mary Hackman of Seymour; three grandchildren: Lisa (Daniel) McGaha, Brian (Michele) Claycamp and Lora (Brent) Waskom; ten great-grandchildren: Christina Claycamp, Griffin McGaha, Cassandra Claycamp, Riley McGaha, Owen Ballard, Charles Melvin Claycamp, Mackenzie Waskom, Eli Ballard, Morgan Waskom and Amelia Waskom; two sisters-in-law: Joann Smith and Jane Crockett; and brother-in-law, Charles R. Fowler.

Nellie Weddell was also preceded in death by three sisters: Betty Fowler Mills, Rosalie Robbins and Loretta Mickel; and four brothers-in-law: Hubert Hackman, Howard Smith, Paul Crockett and Mervin Robbins.

Private funeral services for Nellie Weddell will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. will be practicing social distancing according to CDC guidelines. Masks are required when entering the funeral home. Attendance is limited to 25 people.

Interment will be at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora.

Memorials may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
