Crothersville boys dominate Medora

MEDORA

The Hornets got stung in their own gym Tuesday night.

Employing full-court pressure and too much pressure of every kind by guard Cable Spall, the visiting Crothersville Tigers handed Medora a 65-26 loss that was never close following a 20-6 first-quarter Tiger disparity.

The 5-foot-11 senior guard controlled the game’s pace. He mixed drives to the hoop with the periodic outside shots. When Medora tried to adjust, Stall fed 6-4 forward Quinten Keasler down low.

Spall led all players with 32 points and added eight assists.

Medora’s top scorers were Shepard Earl with 13 points and Braxton McCory with seven, but the Hornets never really got into a shooting rhythm. Even when the Tigers switched to a half-court defense, they readily disrupted Medora’s plays.

“We really pushed the tempo and were aggressive on defense,” Crothersville coach Bobby Riley said.

Stall was the chief offender there, as well, forcing bad passes and making steals and converting the turnovers into easy buckets.

“That was our game plan, to be aggressive,” Spall said. “We were really having our guys go back door. They know if they raise their hand, they’ll get the ball from me.”

Medora coach Mark Morin said his team seemed to get discouraged too quickly when faced with Crothersville’s clinging defense at the outset.

“We stand back and we’ve got to be more aggressive,” he said. “I have to say we’re better than that.”
