Staff Reports

The Jackson County Public Library has resumed no-contact curbside and drive-thru pickup service.

Buildings are closed to the public at this time. All staff members are working in two separate shifts, following sanitation and handwashing procedures and wearing masks while in the libraries.

Customers can place holds on materials with help from library staff or online. Staff will then set up appointments by phone to pick up items during scheduled pickup hours:

Seymour (812-405-1832): 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays

Crothersville (812-793-2927): 2 to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Medora (812-966-2278): 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays

Details on how to use the library’s curbside pickup service can be found online at myjclibrary.org/curbside.

Most materials may be placed in library item returns any time. Hotspots, Kindle Fire devices, Launchpads and Wonderbooks must be returned by appointment. Upon return, all materials will be quarantined for 72 hours per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines or sanitized in new ultraviolet book sterilizers.

Reference assistance is available by calling the Seymour Library at 812-523-4636 or emailing [email protected]. Messages will be returned by staff in the building.

The library’s catalog may be accessed at evergreen.lib.in.us/eg/opac/home or through the Evergreen Indiana app. Free Evergreen Indiana online resources are available at evergreen.lib.in.us/eresources.html and include Chilton Library (auto repair manuals), the Evergreen online book club, Gale legal forms, data axle reference solutions and links to INSPIRE and the Evergreen Indiana app.

Library cardholders can use OverDrive/Libby, hoopla or Kanopy for e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, movies, music and television shows. Links for all online services are at myjclibrary.org/online-resources-2.

The library also is providing free Wi-Fi from outside each library 24/7. Programs for all ages are virtual and available on the library’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Read Jackson County has placed a Little Free Library in front of all three libraries. Visitors are welcome to take a book any time; however, the library is not accepting donations for them or for the Friends of the Jackson County Public Library at this time.
