Mrs. Karen Jo Owens, 61, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, December 5, at Schneck Medical Center. She was born in 1959 to Clebert “Bill” and Helen (Foster) Kinney. She graduated from Crothersville High School in 1977. She was a member of the Crothersville Baptist Church and was branch manager at Centra Credit Union where she worked for 25 years. Karen was a mother to everyone and loved to bake and cook everyone’s favorite meal. She was a student of God’s word and studied the Bible and shared by teaching Bible studies and leading conferences. She was a member of the Jackson County Mission Team and led and participated in many missions throughout Southeast Asia. Her most favorite times of the day were both the sunrise and the sunset. She was on the Girls’ Inc board, Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Schneck Foundation. She had helped raise funds for United Way, Anchor House and the Shop with a Cop Program and many other local organizations.

She married Jerry Owens in 1978 in Paris Crossing, IN. She is survived by her husband, three children, Shelley (Mark) Turner, Bill (Trisha) Owens, and Kenyo her fur-baby and constant companion. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Kristin and Kyle Turner, Niki Wilson, and Ashley Owens, and one great granddaughter, Brooklynn Wilson, and loving brother C.D. (Susan) Kinney and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sandra Kuehn and 2 beloved pets, Onyx and Koe.

Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12 with Pastor Jeff Mathews and Craig Kuehn officiating. Burial will be in Uniontown Cemetery. In order to respectfully honor Karen’s life a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. All services conducted by Voss & Sons funeral service.

The family appreciates all the prayers and concern for them in this time of loss. Karen will be missed by many friends in the community, but all services are private for the safety of the family and friends. Cards and notes of condolence will be most welcome.
