Hazel Marie Hackman Meyer, 82 of Columbus, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. She was born April 4, 1938 in Jackson County, Indiana to Alva and Ora Hackman. She married Donald Meyer on April 21, 1957 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Sauers. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2017.

Hazel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for 63 years. She worked as Receptionist and Funeral Attendant for Hathaway Meyers Funeral Home in Columbus and Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour for many years. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, entertaining, spending time with friends but most of all she loved being with her grandchildren.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Delores Pollert and brother, Orville Hackman. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Nancy) Meyer of Columbus, Kay Bottorff (Richard Hardin) of Columbus and Mark (Ashley) Meyer also of Columbus and her sister, Helen Calhoun of Ludington, Michigan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angie (Bryan) Jaquemai, Brittany (Aaron) Harden, Lauren (Ethan) Johns, Ethan Meyer, Mallory Meyer, Seth Meyer, Bailey Meyer, Henry Baxter, Leana Baxter, Presley Meyer and Nora Meyer and great-grandchildren, Grace and Laney Jaquemai, and Lila, Hunter and Addison Johns.

Friends may visit with Hazel’s family from 4-8 pm Friday, December 4, 2020 at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour and 1 hour prior to the service at 10 am Saturday, December 5, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville, Indiana with Pastor Matthew Jung officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Jonesville.

Memorials may be given in Hazel’s memory to the General Fund, Education Fund or the Improvement Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville, Indiana at Burkholder Chapel.
