Virus interrupts Crothersville basketball schedules

All Crothersville boys and girls basketball games have been called off at least through Dec. 7 because both squads are in quarantine due to the coronavirus.

Athletic Director Jacob Dunn said the teams were forced into this situation after a student at the school tested positive. That student had been in direct contact with members of both basketball teams.

The screening of the players is required because of what Dunn called "close contact. It is not someone on the teams."

Neither Dunn, girls coach Kevin Hensley, nor boys coach Bobby Riley are involved in the quarantine, Dunn said.

Dunn said he was spending the weekend alerting athletic directors at other schools scheduled to play the Tigers about the Crothersville circumstances.

While all games for both teams on the schedule through Dec. 7 are either now scratched, he said, "at least" when it comes to a resumption date. "It could change."

The first game affected was tonight’s originally scheduled girls contest at home versus Cannelton. The boys were not scheduled to play until Saturday against Switzerland County.
