Pacers host pre-season exhibition minus fans

Resuming where the league left off, the Indiana Pacers have scheduled a pre-season game for Bankers Life Fieldhouse Dec. 18 against the Philadelphia 76ers, but somewhat like the wrap-up of last season, no fans will be allowed.

This will be one of the three Pacers exhibition games leading to the start of the 2020-21 season. Although the NBA has announced plans to kick off the new campaign Dec. 22 — much later than the usual start because of the COVID-19 pandemic — no Pacers regular-season schedule has been released yet.

Prior to the Indianapolis game, the Pacers will play two exhibition games against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dec. 12 and Dec. 14. There are plans to broadcast those games, but the details are still forthcoming.

The Pacers finished 45-28, fourth in the Eastern Conference, in the extended, late-to-finish 2019-2020 season that was interrupted by the coronavirus. Indiana then lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Miami Heat.
