Senior Sandy Cerino, Amelita Vasquez and Maren McClure were all double winners in individual events as the Seymour girls swim team overwhelmed Madison, 139-38, in the Owls’ season-opening event.

Cerino won the 50-yard freestyle (26.80) and the 100 (1:00.71), her specialties. Vasquez captured the 200-yard freestyle and the 500 with McClure taking charge in the 100 butterfly and 200-yard individual medley.

The girls also won all three relays.

On the boys side, the Owls had tighter competition, but prevailed, 89-83.

Seymour also scored heavily in the short freestyle races with Bryce Miller finishing first in the 50 in 23.24 and the 100 in 52.01. Pedro Cerino took the 100 butterfly in 59.24 and the 200 IM in 2:09.46 in a dual meet where all victories were critical.
