The Crothersville boys basketball team opened its season Tuesday night with a 50-42 loss to Waldron.

Cable Spall scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished off four assists, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers. Quinten Keasler added 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Coach Bobby Riley noted except for one scrimmage this was the first time the Tigers faced another team in competition since last March’s sectionals.

"We definitely improved from last week’s scrimmage," said Riley, the first-year head coach. "We’ve still got a lot to work on. We need to get some kinks out."

Crothersville led 7-5 after the first quarter, but trailed by two by halftime.

Other Tiger scorers were Zach Helt with 4 points, Damian Bowman with 3 points, and Dominick Stevens with 2.

The Crothersville junior varsity bested Waldron, 40-37.

Matthew Clouse led the Tigers with 10 points. Devin Morgan had 7 points and 10 rebounds and Elijah Plasse had 6 points.
