Thanksgiving meals being offered across county

With Thanksgiving around the corner, restaurants and churches around Jackson County are offering meals for county residents to celebrate the holiday about giving thanks and filling plates.

On Sunday, Medora Christian Church is offering Thanksgiving lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will have a drive-thru service where people living in the area are able to receive lunches for free. The meal will include turkey, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls and pumpkin pie and can be picked up in a tent in front of the church, 76 S. George St., Medora.

Also Sunday, Seymour Christian Church will be filling and delivering meal bags to families in the community. For every bag returned to the church, SCC is providing a ham. Leftover bags will be donated back to the community. If a family needs a bag or if someone knows a family that could use one, call the church at 812-523-3335.

The meal bags include canned or boxed items such as green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, hot chocolate, cornbread, turkey stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and other Thanksgiving food items. Seymour Christian Church is at 915 Kasting Road, Seymour.

Townhouse Cafe is offering $10 Thanksgiving lunches from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Lunch includes turkey or a ham loaf, two sides, a dinner roll and dessert. Add a third side for $2. The restaurant is at 206 E. Fourth St., Seymour.

The Alley is offering free Thanksgiving dinners via a curbside service Thursday. Dinners will be given out from 4 to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 505 Community Drive, Seymour. To-go boxes with all of the fixings can be picked up in front of the fellowship hall entrance.

The Pines is selling carryout Thanksgiving dinners that can be picked up Thursday. Meals are $15 plus tax and include sliced ham and turkey, dressing, seasoned green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad with dressing and pumpkin pie.

Orders must be placed by Wednesday by calling The Pines at 812-522-4955. Pickup for the meals will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant, 4171 N. U.S. 31, Seymour.
