Opha Steele, 82, of Seymour, IN passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020, at her home. Opha was born on Monday, November 15, 1937, in Saul, KY to Chester and Martha (Smith) Barger. On April 5, 1958, in Jennings Co., IN, Opha married Louis W. “Lum” Steele who preceded her in death on March 3, 2007. Opha was a 1957 Paris Crossing High School graduate. She retired from Wal-Mart after working there for 17 years. Throughout her lifetime she also worked at H.O. Canfield Industries, Panasote, US Shoe Factory, Excello Shirt Factory, and Levi’s. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler, a huge IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts fan, enjoyed sewing, and loved traveling with her brother, Cooney, and sister-in-law, Carol. Opha is survived by her 3 children, Dexter Steele of Seymour, IN, Teresa Joetta Wilson of Seymour, IN, and Leandra Craig of Seymour, IN, 7 grandchildren, Crystal Adams, Ryan Wilson, Jaime Richey, Rachel Otte, Cassie Steele, Clint Nicholson, and Aaron Craig, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Elmer (Mary) Barger of Massachusetts, Cooney (Carol) Barger of Crothersville, IN. Opha was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Martha Barger, her husband of 49 years, Louis W. “Lum” Steele, sister, Polly Barger, and brother, Taylor Barger. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville, IN, burial will follow at Uniontown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
