Community food drive underway for pantries, sheds

Healthy Jackson County is conducting a community food drive.

The organization is encouraging people to donate nonperishable food and other items to the four Little Food Pantries in Jackson County and the Shed for You community buildings.

The pantries are outside the Boys and Girls Club of Seymour, 950 N. O’Brien St., Seymour; Tampico Baptist Church, 5626 S. State Road 39, Tampico; White River Ag Sales, 2858 S. State Road 235, Medora; and Human Services Inc., 1115 E. Oak St., Seymour.

The Shed for You buildings are on West Walnut Street in Brownstown and North Union Street in Freetown.

Suggested items to donate include canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned meats, boxed foods, blankets, gloves and toiletries.

The pantries and sheds are self-serve 24 hours a day, and donations can be dropped off at any time.

Healthy Jackson County said the pantries and sheds are seeing a lot of traffic right now and are in great need of donations, and this is a very easy way to provide help to those in need during this difficult time.
