SEYMOUR

Mrs. Sondra Jerrine Schrink, 83, of Seymour, IN ran into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2020 with her family by her side.

Jerrine was born in Seymour, IN on March 14, 1937, the daughter of Ernest and Ellen (Johnson) Stevens. On August 7, 1960 she married Michael Anthony Schrink, who proceeded her in death December 2, 2001.

Jerrine graduated Seymour High School and went on to attend Franklin College where she studied Education. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and was crowned Home Coming Queen. A year after she began her studies, Michael Schrink joined her at Franklin and they were college “Sweethearts” throughout their studies there.

Once Jerrine graduated Franklin College she attended Indiana University Bloomington where she received her master’s degree in Education.

As a young teacher, Jerrine taught elementary school in Franklin, Martinsville, Scipio, and then came back to Seymour and taught at Lincoln and Riley Elementary Schools. After several years of teaching in Seymour she was moved to Emerson Elementary School where she went on to teach for 33 years. She retired from Emerson Elementary School in 1995.

Jerrine was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church and sang in many different choirs in her youth, and also the adult choir for many years. Many of her closest friends were those that sang with her all of those many years.

Having been raised with three brothers, Jerrine could be considered a bit of a “Tom” boy. She participated in all her children’s sporting activities, and spent many hours riding her own motorcycle with her husband Michael on their many adventures all over Southern Indiana.

Jerrine had a big heart for those that were less fortunate. When she saw a need in her classroom or in the school in general, Jerrine would purchase, clothes, shoes, socks, coats, backpacks and supplies for those that had a need. Jerrine was an active ear for those that were hurting, whether it was a student or just an acquaintance, she always had time to sit down and have a “Coke” with those that were troubled and needed someone to talk to. In addition to her love for others, she also loved her animals. In her later years, Jerrine found great companionship with her many cats and her dog Lilly.
