A drive-thru trick or treat event is set for 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, 150 E. State Road 250, Brownstown.

The public is invited.

Regular trick or treat hours for Jackson County are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Sheriff Rick Meyer shared a few tips about trick-or-treating:

  • Choose a bright costume that can be seen easily
  • Stay outside; never go into a stranger’s home
  • Carry a flashlight or other light source after dark
  • Check candy and throw away any unwrapped items
  • Stay away from homes on the sex and violent offender registry, which are listed online at jacksoncountysheriffin.org
  • Drive extra cautious on Halloween; children will be excited and may move in unpredictable ways
