Sectional sensations

Thumbs up to the Trinity Lutheran and Brownstown Central volleyball teams for winning their respective sectionals Saturday. Members of the 28-5 Class A Cougars, who beat the West Washington Senators in the Sectional 62 championship at Trinity Lutheran, are seniors Bailey Reynolds, Elly Carter, Sydney Jaynes and Kennedy Hoffman, juniors Estella Kleffman, Ruthie Bingham and Kamzi Gross, sophomore Bailey Tabeling and freshmen Olivia Cain, Laina Klinge, Natalie Martinez, Morgan Brewer, Drew Hubbard, Kylie Zabel and Allison Ward. Members of the Class 3A Braves, who beat Edgewood in the Sectional 26 final at Edgewood, are seniors Myka Keltz, Jennifer Pence, Kendra McCory and Kayla Guthrie, juniors Reagan Nuss, Emily Singleton, Kelsey Wischmeier, Zoe Stuckwisch, Addie Shelton, Zori Otting and Erin Singleton, sophomore Kalee Borden and freshman Nadia Lakins.

Thumbs up to the Trinity Lutheran girls soccer team, which won the Providence Sectional on Oct. 10 by beating the Pioneers 2-0. Team members are seniors Flossie Cooper, Erin Enzinger and Genesis Munoz, juniors Sarah Lemming, Mya Lindroth, Kayla Goecker, Kailene Cockerham and Riley Lawles, sophomores Kathryn Whitmore, Samantha Enzinger and Emma Myers and freshmen Paige Davidson, Kaydence Miller and Danielle Munoz. The Cougars reached the Forest Park Regional finals by beating Washington Catholic 1-0 in the semifinals, but their season ended with a 2-0 loss to the host team.

Thumbs up to the members of the Seymour boys cross-country team that won the Brown County Sectional on Oct. 10. The squad features seniors Ethan Dippold, Brandon Kleber, Levi Croquart and Brycen Baugh, juniors Michael Proffer and Clayton Greenwalt and sophomore Jude Bane. The Owls also advanced to the Brown County Semistate by finishing third on Saturday in the Columbus North Regional.

Mother of the Year

Thumbs up to Seymour native Jessica Combs Harrison, who is among 21 women recently recognized as a 2020 Working Mother of the Year. The Working Mothers of the Year were nominated by their employers, which have been named a Working Mother 100 Best Company. Harrison, a 1996 Seymour High School graduate, now lives in Kentfield, California, and works for Protiviti, a global consulting firm that provides clients with consulting and managed solutions in finance, technology, operations, data, analytics, governance, risk and internal audit through its network of more than 85 offices in more than 25 countries.
