The number of Jackson County residents who have died from COVID-19 grew by two to 15 Wednesday.
The number of positive cases in the county rose to 1,129 with 35 new positive cases reported through midnight Wednesday.
Overall, the county’s seven-day positivity rate from Oct. 9 to 15 was 9.4%.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported 2,880 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories.
To date, a total of 155,246 Indiana residents are known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.
Also, 3,831 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19 with the report of 42 new deaths on Wednesday. Those deaths occurred between Oct. 1 and 21. Another 234 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.
To date, 1,594,365 people have been tested in Indiana. A total of 2,611,265 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the ISDH since Feb. 26.

Appointments can be scheduled online at scheduling.coronavirus.in.gov or patients can walk in and register onsite. These sites are being offered through partnerships between Schneck Medical Center, the Jackson County Health Department and the Jennings County Health Department.
Testing also is available at the former town hall building in Brownstown at 200 W. Walnut St.
