Ida Hettie (Hazzard) Stahl, 86, of Vallonia, passed away at 11:33 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus. She was born on July 17, 1934 in Vallonia to the late William & Cleta (Alexander) Hazzard. Ida was a life-long resident of Vallonia, a 1952 graduate of the Vallonia High School, and a proud four year cheerleader for her school. Ida lived with and was raised by the late Charles & Myrtle (Compton) Blackwood also of Vallonia. In 1953 she graduated from the Approved Beauty College of Indianapolis and was a hairdresser with her own shop in Brownstown for over 10 years.

On August 4, 1963, at the Vallonia Methodist Church, she married the love of her life, William Franklin Stahl, who preceded her in death on September 8, 1998. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John & Wesley Hazzard and a sister, Rosa Charlotte Blackwood.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Melanie J. Stahl of Vallonia; a granddaughter, Rachel E. Pogue-Stahl of Camden, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Ida was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Wegan and a homemaker. She enjoyed flying and traveling with her husband Bill, bowling and playing cards with friends, watching IU basketball, and most of all spending time with her granddaughter Rachel.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Martin Keller officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will take place at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Wegan. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ft. Vallonia Museum, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, or to the American Heart Association.
