Forest Service reopens section of trail

The U.S. Forest Service has reopened the northern section of Hickory Ridge Trail 3 located primarily in Monroe County.

The trail was temporarily closed after storm damage occurred in June 2019. A section of Hickory Ridge Trail 16 also was closed at that time and will remain closed for at least another year until repairs can be made.

The section of Trail 16 that remains closed is from the junction of Trail 17 on the west to the junction with Trail 17 on the east, south of Trail 17 in Jackson County.

The 45.9-mile Hickory Ridge trail system is popular with horse riders and also is used by hikers and mountain bikers.
