Police: Sex offender failed to report address change

A sex offender faces a felony charge after failing to report an address change.

Mark E. Moore, 60, of Seymour was arrested Tuesday for failure to register as a sex offender, a Level 6 felony.

The arrest came after Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Adam Nicholson received a tip about Moore not living at his registered address. The concerned citizen contacted Nicholson after seeing Moore’s registered address on the county website was incorrect.

Moore had been living at Allstate Inn in Seymour and registered that address with the sheriff’s department in July, Nicholson said.

During the investigation, Nicholson learned Moore had moved to Knights Inn in Seymour sometime around August or September and never came to the sheriff’s department to report the address change.

The law requires sex and violent offenders to register any address change with the sheriff’s department having jurisdiction over the address in person and within 72 hours of the address change, Nicholson said.

On Tuesday, Moore was located at Knights Inn and arrested at 9:58 a.m. He is being held at the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown without bond.

Jackson County officers Justin Amos and Cy Moss assisted Nicholson with the investigation.
