MEDORA

Earl G. Root, age 76, of Medora, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by his family.

He retired from Jackson County Highway Department. He loved spending time with his family, and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, and being outdoors fishing.

Born on June 10, 1944 in Kentucky, he was the son of Delbert and Cynthia (Norton) Root, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 29, 1962, he married Roberta (Edwards) Root and she survives in Medora.

Survivors also include three daughters: Rebecca Jo (Robert) Fields, Charlotte Moore, and Teresa (Shawn) Bowman; one son, Earl Root Jr.; nine grandchildren; two brothers: Lonny Root, and Eddie (Janet) Root; two sisters: Pauline Marsh and Jacqueline (Fred) Jones.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Moore; one sister: Oma Land; one brother: Homer Root, three grandchildren: John Miller Jr., Ashley Barker, and Earl Root III; one brother – in – law, Gene Marsh.

Funeral services for Earl G. Root will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Johnson Funeral Home will be practicing social distancing according to CDC guidelines. Masks are required when entering the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Vallonia Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be given to Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center or Donor’s choice.
