Mrs. Oma Jane Smith, 93, of Seymour, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

Oma was born in Sassafras, Kentucky on February 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Willie “Red” Smith and Mattie Cornett Smith.

She moved to Indiana with her dad at the age of 16. She started working as a waitress. Later she married Donald Hoyt Smith and had 5 children. She divorced and went to work at the Gerwin Shoe Factory and several other jobs to raise her 5 children. Oma was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her family.

Oma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid at the Schneck Medical Center for more than 20 years. She also volunteered as a pink lady for several years. Oma enjoyed giving of her time to serve others.

Oma is survived by her children: Sheryl K. Polley, Clara “Jane” (Stephen) Goen, Rebecca A. (Ron) Hoffman, Donald G. (Pam) Smith and Dorothy L. (Mark) Gambrell, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, brothers: James Cline, Pete Cline, sister: Janice Moore as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister: Blanch Morgan and brothers: Verlon Cline, Ralph Cline and William Cline and son-in-law, Lloyd Polley.

Family and friends may visit at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday after 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral service will be Friday at Voss Chapel at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Masks are respectfully required.
