BROWNSTOWN

James H. Ross, 93, of Brownstown, passed away in the comfort of his home on September 24, 2020. James was the son of the late Cecil and Laura Mae Daily Ross. On December 20, 1977 he married his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Shirbish Ross.

James was a member of the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a truck driver for Swain Industries for 26 years and drove for Don Sumpter Trucking.

James is survived by his children, Melvin James Ross, Matthew (Memorie) Scott Ross, and Jim Kuthy; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his children, Eva May Hammon, Arthur E. Ross, Ruth Elle Ross, and Julia Faye Carter; and his brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for James will be Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 10:00 am with Reverend Tim Lichtley officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
