Gene Roland Marsh, 91, of Seymour passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born to parents Charles Lester “Cotton” Marsh and Ruth Simmons Marsh, both who precede him in death. In 1978, he married the love of his life, Pauline Root Marsh in Hartsville, Tennessee.

Gene was a member of Surprise United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was in the Air Force Reserves from 1955 to 1961. Upon his return, he worked at the Shoe Factory, Reliance Electric and as an executive for the Jackson County Highway Department. He owned his own excavation company for 30 years.

Gene was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved hunting rabbits with his dogs. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by many.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Pauline; his children, James (Sandra) Jones and Delbert W. (Kathi) Jones; many grand children and great grandchildren; his sisters Mary Katheryn (Paul) Persell and Doris Kleffman; and several nieces and nephews.

Her was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Marsh.

Funeral services honoring Gene will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.l with Reverend Steve Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Reddington Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 12:00 until the time of service.
