Following Jesus makes your life better

0

After the resurrection, Jesus told the disciples, “You believe because you have seen me. But blessed are those who haven’t seen me and believe anyway.” (John 20:29 TLB)

That’s talking about you and me. We can be blessed because we believe in Jesus, even though we have not seen him.

I’m so glad I have chosen to follow Jesus. If that is your story, I bet you are glad you chose to follow him, too. I’m convinced that following Jesus will make your life better. I have seen it happen.

I’m also convinced that following Jesus will make you better at life. Jesus offers all of us an incredible gift — the gift of eternal life. Once you accept this gift, your life will never be the same.

That does not mean life will be easy. To be honest, sometimes life is just plain hard. Following Jesus doesn’t necessarily make your life easier. It makes your life better.

Jesus had asked the disciples if they were going to abandon him like so many in the crowd. Peter answered Jesus’ question in John 6:68-69: “Simon Peter replied, ‘Master, to whom shall we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life, and we believe them and know you are the holy son of God.’”

Jesus offers us something nobody else can offer. The thing that makes his offer credible is the fact that people like Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, James and Paul all told us Jesus rose from the dead.

The prophecies were fulfilled. The claims were true. And every one of these guys continued to proclaim this truth until their dying breath. The resurrection had validated everything Jesus had said and done.

Jesus has been changing lives for more than 2,000 years. What he has done for others, he can do for you. Will you choose to follow him today? Would you be willing to surrender your life to him? Will you at least be willing to walk in his direction?

Why wouldn’t you choose to walk in his direction and trust him with your destination in every area of life? Would you be willing to surrender and say an unconditional yes to Jesus today?

Yes, I believe. Yes, I will trust. Yes, I want to make Jesus the Lord of my life. Yes, I am ready to follow him and to do his will. Would you be willing to do it right now today? I believe you will be very glad you did. This is an invitation to connect with the God who made you.
