Albert “Ernie” Ball, 72, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, with his daughter by his side.

Ernie was born on December 7, 1947, in Bryson City, North Carolina, the son of George A. Kasting and Lillie (Adams) Ball Kasting. He married Beverly (Fisher) Ball on February 24, 1978, and they celebrated 41 years of marriage. He graduated from Seymour Senior High in 1965 and completed an apprenticeship program becoming an electrician in 1992.

Ernie retired from Cummins Inc. after 37 years of service, and was an electrician the last 11 years of his career. Following retirement, he worked as a security guard at Jay C Food Stores, Schneck Medical Center, and Cummins Inc. He most recently worked as a greeter at Schneck Medical Center.

Ernie was a mason at the High Point Lodge for the past 27 years, serving as Worshipful Master in 2005-2007 and in 2011. He was also a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge for the past 25 years serving as Worshipful Master in 2001. Ernie was a member of the York Rite (Columbus, IN) for the past 26 years. He also was active in Eastern Star, Shriners, Scottish Rite, and the Cammon Lodge (Hope, IN).

Ernie was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He was kind-hearted, loving, and met everyone with a smile. He loved people deeply, especially his family. Ernie always went out of his way to make everyone feel special, and would do anything for anyone without question or hesitation. After retirement from Cummins, he found his calling as a security guard and greeter where he connected and touched many people’s lives with his infectious smile and genuine heart. He enjoyed watching movies and spending time with family and friends. His grandchildren owning his heart. Ernie loved God, had a strong faith, and was an extraordinary role model of how to love and care for others.

Survivors include his children; Andrew Ball, Bradley Ball, and Jessica (Todd) Heckman; brothers and sisters; Janette Foster, Vinson (Nancy) Ball, Gail (Jerry I.) Cravens; grandchildren: Jacob Ball, Jared Ball, Ashley (Brandon) Ramirez, Erica (Austin) Jordan, Sarah Cravens, Lindsay Revalee, Bridgett (Bryson Garland) Ball, Hunter Heckman, Haley Heckman, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; son, John Ball; and his brother, Carl Ball.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour, IN, with Elder Jimmie D. Durnill officiating. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, September 22 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Face masks are respectfully required at all services.

Memorial contributions may be given to Jackson Masonic Lodge or the donor’s church of choice, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
