The Jackson County Learning Center has reopened with meeting rooms, computers for educational use and job search appointments available.

Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the center, 323 Dupont Drive, Seymour.

The computer labs have been modified in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, and appointments are available for those needing access for virtual and online classes or just to study and do homework. To reserve a computer or workspace, call 812-519-2923.

Meeting room space also is available with social distancing restrictions. Space can be reserved by calling 812-519-2923 or emailing [email protected].

All building access and services are currently by appointment only, and masks are required inside the facility in common areas and when 6 feet social distancing is not possible.

When arriving for an appointment, class or business meeting, people should use the new doorbell button on the right side wall just inside the glass entry area. A staff member will then check you in and guide you to your designated location. You also may call the front desk to be checked in. The number is posted on the door.

For the safety of staff and guests, the center has installed extra hand sanitizing units in the common areas, outside classrooms and inside the community room; removed extra tables and chairs to maintain the 6 feet social distancing guidelines in classrooms and the lounge; removed extra computer stations in the computer café to maintain the 6 feet social distancing guidelines; and has sanitizing stations available for sanitizing computer keyboards and mice.

Visual markers and posters have been put in place to remind all entering and inside the facility to not only keep the 6 feet social distance but to also wash hands thoroughly, use hand sanitizer and wear a mask.

Staff will be completing a self-screening health assessment prior to coming to work each day.

The center also has implemented extra cleaning and sanitizing measures for daily cleaning and after each room has been used.
