Anchor House seeks volunteers

Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry in Seymour has volunteer opportunities available and is looking for those wanting to give back to their community.

Food pantry volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays. They will assist during shopping hours.

Truck unloading volunteers are needed on the third Tuesday and second Friday of every month. It’s a great opportunity for groups.

Mobile pantry volunteers can help from 1 to 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month, mostly directing traffic outdoors.

Local grocery pickup is done at 8:30 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays and between 9 and 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays in Seymour and from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Thursdays in Brownstown.

Shelter volunteers can clean family apartments as needed, help assemble intake paperwork, assist in all areas of running the shelter and conduct classes and support clients.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact 812-522-9308. There is a brief application to complete, but most volunteers can start immediately.
