William “Randy” Randolph Davis Sr., 80 of Seymour, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at his residence. Born February 15, 1940 in Anderson, Indiana he was the son of William H. Davis and Marjorie (Nolan) Davis.

Randy was an instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for 30 years. He was a veteran having served in the United State Marines and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Randy also attended the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Columbus.

He enjoyed woodworking, cars, movies, gun cleaning and gun collecting. Randy was known for his intense personality and loved to tell stories. He was known to be very factual and intelligent with an excellent memory which was a perfect match for Randy’s passion for training police officers.

He was known for remembering officer names and their class decades after they were in the Academy. During his employment at the academy he conducted physical tactics and firearms training. Even after his retirement, Randy conducted sniper schools. He was well respected across the entire Law Enforcement community.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Hallgarth and her husband Buck of Madison; his son, Greg Davis and his wife Stefanie of Avon; his siblings, Diane Macquire, Kimberly Cannon and Doug Davis all of Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

Both of his parents, his brothers, Rod Davis and Mac Davis, and his son, William Randolph Davis II preceded his passing.

There will be two visitations at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre with the first being Friday, September 11, 2020 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Then the second visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10 am to 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 1 pm. The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy will conduct services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, 5402 Sugar Grove Road, Plainfield, Indiana 46168.
