Skidmore posts low score for Seymour golfers

Phoebe Skidmore recorded the low score for the Seymour golf team Tuesday, but the Owls couldn’t keep up with Columbus North in a nine-hole match.

Skidmore totaled a 48 at Harrison Lake Country Club as Columbus North topped Seymour 150-214.

Teammate Lainey Jackson’s 50 was close behind. The other Seymour scorers were Rylee Ebler 57, Liza Stuckwisch 59 and Maddie Nay 65.

“We just need to focus more on greens,” Owls coach Jim Hoffman said.

Brownstown JV football change

Brownstown Central’s junior varsity football game against Charlestown has changed locations.

The game is still scheduled for Aug. 31, but the site is now Brownstown instead of on the road. Kickoff is 6 p.m.

Brownstown gets votes

Even though the Brownstown Central football team had its scheduled opening game against Corydon Central called off due to the coronavirus, the team still received votes in the weekly Class 3A rankings.

The Braves, now scheduled to open at home Friday versus Charlestown, are ranked 14th.
