COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Paul Edward Borgman, 99 of Columbus, IN passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020. He was born April 22, 1921 in Seymour, IN to Fred and Malinda Meyer Borgman.

He graduated from Cortland High School in 1939. He married Jenet Middendorf on February 8, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jonesville, Indiana. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather who was dedicated to his family. He loved family get togethers.

Paul served in the US Army during WWII from August 20, 1942 until September 14, 1945. He was a Sargent in General Patton’s 3rd Army and was involved with the invasion of Utah Beach in Normandy, France. He earned a Bronze Star and several other medals.

In his early years, he was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Waymansville. As a very involved member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, he held many offices for the past 78 years. Since buying the farm in 1955, he loved farming and raising cattle. He worked for Arvin Industries for 28 years and was employed as a Manufacturing Sales Rep until retiring in 1972. In his early 90’s, he planted trees knowing others would enjoy the shade they would provide.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don Borgman and one great-great-granddaughter.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Jenet of Columbus, son, Larry (Connie) Borgman of Columbus and a daughter, Judy (Jake) Sharp of South Dakota, grandchildren, Kevin (Chris) Borgman, Darren (Laura Plummer) Borgman, Malinda (Jim) Davidson, Steve, John and Gary (Stacy) Claycamp, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with Paul’s family from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville, Indiana with the funeral being held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Matt Jung officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Jonesville. Due to Covid-19, face masks are required. Arrangements entrusted to Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274.

Memorials may be given in Paul’s memory to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville, IN or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana at Burkholder Chapel.
