Organizer cancels benefit concert; working on alternatives

Organizer Adam Nicholson has announced the Sertoma Benefit Concert is canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He shared that news on his Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

Nicholson, however, said he feels there’s still a way to help the Jackson County Sertoma Club, which benefits from the event’s proceeds in providing gifts to families in need at Christmastime.

"I’m positive there will be families in need this Christmas, and more than likely, there will be more than usual," he wrote in his post.

Nicholson said he’s currently working on a virtual auction and a Facebook Live concert with James Dupré, and he will release more details when they are available.

In the past 11 years, the concert has raised nearly $60,000 for needy children in Jackson County.
