Two more county residents die of COVID-19

Two more Jackson County residents have died from COVID-19, bringing the county’s total number of deaths related to the virus to seven.

The deaths were reported on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard over the past few days; however, the deaths are said to have occurred Aug. 14.

In Jackson County, the positivity rate over the last seven-day period is 6.7%. For comparison, neighboring counties Lawrence, Jennings and Bartholomew are at 4.7%, 3.3% and 9.4%, respectively.

Overall, Jackson County has reported 633 total positive COVID-19 cases, 36 of which have come over the past week. 

A total of 5,724 county residents have been tested, 250 of which have come in the last seven days.
