JCLC celebrating 10 years with art project

The Jackson County Learning Center is celebrating 10 years of providing educational and workforce opportunities in Seymour.

To commemorate the event, the center is organizing a community art project.

The theme of the display is light bulbs. Interested artists can use a template provided by the center or can draw their own. The artwork should show the community how education sparked a light in the artist.

Entries can be drawings, paintings, mixed media or sculpture by artists of all ages. To be hung on the wall, pieces should be no larger than 12-by-12 inches and ready to hang.

"We are hoping to highlight education at all levels and the impact it has on people’s futures," said Amy Heideman, director of JCLC.

Blank light bulb templates are available for pickup at the learning center, 323 Dupont Drive, during business hours. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 4.

The art show will be on display through the end of the semester and will be included in a virtual art tour and showcased in the learning center’s newsletter and on social media.

"Our hope is that these works will encourage and inspire others in their educational journeys," Heideman said.

Each artist will receive a participation certificate.
