ELIZABETHTOWN

James S. Conway, 82, of Elizabethtown, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at his caregiver’s home.

James was born May 20, 1938, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Martin H. and Clara Mae Holton Conway. On April 1, 1967, he married Aurelia May Pasko.

Mr. Conway served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after his service. He graduated from Franklin College and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He then went on to receive his physical therapy certification at the Mayo Clinic. Mr. Conway started the Physical Therapy Department at Jackson County Hospital and became the Director of Rehabilitation.

He was also a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398 and enjoyed tinkering on the farm in his spare time.

Survivors include his children, Stephen Conway of Indianapolis, Nadine (Scott) Gilkison of Greenfield; grandchildren, Rachael, Kate, Cole, Makenzie Gilkison; brother, Thomas (Mary Ann) Conway of Elizabethtown; sister, Glenna Malone of Columbus; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Aurelia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Steve Muster officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
