Mr. Lester Edgar Otte, 73, of Columbus passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his home, attended to by his loving wife. He was born in Cortland, Indiana on August 8, 1946 to parents Harold L. and Lona Anna Elizabeth (Hehman) Otte. On July 24, 1966, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek, he married Marsha (Dettmer) Otte.

Lester was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek. He retired from Cummins and was a lifelong farmer. Lester belonged to and has served as Director of the Bartholomew County Pork Producers. He bowled for many years and enjoyed playing dart-ball. Lester was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many.

Lester is survived by Marsha, his beloved wife of 54 years; his children, Beth (Michael) Bundy, Cindy Lemmon, Darren (Laura) Otte, and Eric (Melissa) Otte; 7 grandchildren, Ethan Bundy, Kayla Lemmon, Harris Otte, Kylie Lemmon, Libby Otte, Charlotte Otte, and Ruthie Otte; brothers, Alvin Otte, Merrell Otte, and Dennis Otte; and sister, Marlis (William) Kidd.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald Otte, and Harlan Otte; sister, Eunice Lutes; and son-in-law, Jay Lemmon.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with burial following at White Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, at White Creek from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, facemasks are required at all services.

Memorials made in honor of Lester may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek or White Creek Lutheran School in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
