Detectives with Bloomington Police Department continue to investigate the July 22 murder of a man with ties to Seymour.

Thomas M. Pleasant Jr., a resident of Bloomington, was born in Bedford but his mother, Charity Andersen, a sister, Lacey Andersen, and brothers, Brenden Pleasant and Bryce Andersen, all live in Seymour and his heart was here, according to his obituary.

The investigation into Pleasant’s death started at 11:25 p.m. July 22 when officers responded to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of South Walnut Springs Drive in reference to a report of a man shot in a parking lot.

The caller reported the man was lying in a pool of blood and appeared to be unresponsive.

Officers arrived on scene and found Pleasant with a gunshot wound to the neck. They administered CPR until an ambulance arrived and took him to IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and Pleasant was declared dead at 12:18 a.m. July 23.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are attempting to locate possible witnesses for interviews.

Pleasant’s funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour. Calling is from 11 a.m. until time of service.
