Four from county earn degrees from Franklin College

Franklin College recently announced the names of the graduates from the Class of 2020, including four from Jackson County.

The college conferred 170 undergraduate degrees and seven graduate degrees. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the college rescheduled the traditional commencement ceremony to coincide with the annual homecoming and alumni weekend Oct. 11.

Jackson County graduates include:

Macey Elaine Chase, the daughter of Leslie and Jennie Chase of Seymour, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in art studio (graphic design) and art studio (digital fine arts photography).

Christopher Howard Knight, the son of Brad Knight and Kathy Littleton, both of Seymour, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations.

John Michael McKinney, the son of Mark and Joyce McKinney of Brownstown, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science. He also graduated summa cum laude and is a member of Alpha Society Academic Honorary, Chi Alpha Sigma Student Athlete Honor Society, Chi Beta Phi National Scientific Honorary and Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. His peers also selected him as a Top Ten Senior.

Mackenzie Scout Taylor, the daughter of Christopher and Karen Taylor of Seymour, received Bachelor of Arts degrees in elementary education and history. She also graduated summa cum laude and received the William Wayland Kenower ’81 Award.
