Matthew A. Conrad, age 54, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Union City Hospital, Terre Haute.

Matthew was of the Christian faith. He was currently employed with North American Lighting in Paris, Illinois, and he was also in sales for most of his life.

Born on October 15, 1965, in Seymour, he was the son of Charles, Sr. and Ethel Burnett Conrad. His father preceded him in death on December 14, 2016, and his mother survives in Brownstown.

He belonged to Masons Lodge #292 Pimento and the Shriners for most of his life.

Matthew loved people and was always full of life. He was well-known for his “gift of gab”, as he loved to tell jokes and stories. He enjoyed spending time outside taking care of his house, riding Harley motorcycles, and attending races with his brothers.

Survivors also include two brothers: Chuck Conrad of Vallonia, and Donald (Dotti) Conrad of Brownstown; nieces and nephews: Leslie (William) Holder of Columbus, Rachel (DJ) Rouse of Spraytown; Jade Conrad of Indianapolis, and Caitlin (Luke) Nolting of Brownstown; great-nephews: Liam Holder, Henry Rouse and Connor Rouse; one great-niece, Charlotte Holder; and his partner, Amy Taylor.

Funeral services for Matthew A. Conrad will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Mitchell McIntyre officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

A Masonic service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. will be practicing social distancing according to CDC guidelines. Masks are required when entering the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital of St. Louis or Donor’s Choice.
