SEYMOUR

Mr. Richard Allen Schwade, 65, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home. He was born in Florence, Indiana to parents Loren and Ora Lee (Hunt) Schwade.

He is survived by his mother, Ora Lee; his daughter, Laura (Stevie) Cox and sons, Ty (Kari) Schwade and Cody (Kim Curry) Schwade, his sisters, Lorraine (Roger) Barker, Rita (Joe) Schepman, and Rose (Keith) Bode. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lilly and Loren Cox, Allison and Abigail Schwade and was expecting another grandbaby in February. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loren W. Schwade and a brother Paul Edward Schwade.

Richard spent his early years outside, riding and breaking horses with his father, and even won a grand champion fair trophy atop Peppy the pony. His love for all things racing continued to hare scramble dirt bike events; then to building, repairing, and riding motorcycles. He loved to make people laugh with memorable jokes and spent time collecting and shooting guns. Richard was known as Poppy to his four granddaughters, whom he loved spending time with and was revered as the “funniest person” they knew.

Richard also traveled as an electrician, worked in the service department, was a fleet manager and purchasing manager in a more than thirty-year career with Biehle Electric. He had prior employment with Nolting’s IGA, Harley Bag, Cummins, Shell, and Carpenter Body Works. He volunteered in many capacities in our community: Hoosier Hilltoppers, Special Olympics, Seymour Wrestling Association, and the Seymour Oktoberfest.

Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Monday, July 20, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
