With the extended individual tax season deadline less than a week away, many Hoosiers are now finalizing their individual tax returns and preparing to pay taxes owed.

The Indiana Department of Revenue offers several payment options to make the last-minute rush a little easier.

“As the individual tax filing and payment deadlines approach, our customer service specialists are here to help,” DOR Commissioner Bob Grennes said. “We offer several payment options to ensure customers are able to pay their taxes on time to avoid penalties and interest, including scheduling a future payment. We also support online payment options that can be made 24/7.”

DOR offers helpful tips and options for individuals who owe:

  • File by the deadline — Individuals are required to file an individual tax return or an extension by July 15. Late or missing returns or payments can result in penalties and interest.
  • Pay now or schedule a payment online — Individuals who owe can quickly and securely pay taxes using DORpay at dor.in.gov using Visa, MasterCard or a checking account. As an added convenience, customers paying by e-check (EFT) can schedule future tax payments to be deducted from their bank account for a later due date.
  • Send in a payment with the tax filing — To avoid penalties and interest, 90% of the total taxes owed must be paid by July 15. If the customer cannot make the full payment, they may contact DOR’s customer service team for payment plan assistance.
  • Set up a payment plan — Customers who cannot pay the full amount on or before July 15 have the option to set up a payment plan through INtax Pay at in.gov or by calling DOR’s payment services team at 317-232-2165 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Customers with questions about individual income tax returns, extensions and payment options may visit dor.in.gov or contact DOR customer service at 317-232-2240 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
