State Road 258 will reopen at Persimmon Creek east of Freetown in Jackson County by Thursday following a 30-day closure for a box culvert replacement project.

The road will remain open for the Fourth of July holiday weekend and is scheduled close again Monday for a second box culvert replacement located further east at Coon Creek.

The road will close for 30 days between Base Road and County Road 100E through early August. The official detour route will remain State Road 11 to U.S. 50 to State Road 446 to State Road 58.

The Indiana Department of Transportation urges motorists to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
