The Pershing Township Volunteer Fire Department has canceled its annual auction, 5K run/walk and fish fry.
According to a news release from the department, the decision was made with public health concerns related to COVID-19 in mind.
Additionally, the department said due to the economic impact of the virus, it did not want to ask supporters for financial donations.
The department plans to instead use the day as a training day for its volunteers.
