John “Pete” and Helen Johnson of Brownstown will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner at Key West Shrimp House in Madison with their children.
John and the former Helen Gilstrap were married June 25, 1960, at Brownstown Christian Church.
They are the parents of two children, Karen (Harold) Cooper of Brownstown and John (Kori) Johnson of Washington. They have four grandchildren.
Pete was employed at Marion Kay Products and retired from Jackson County REMC. He was a fast-pitch softball pitcher, winning at the state finals and while serving in the U.S. Army in Korea. He pitched his team to the Korean championship. He is a member of Brownstown Christian Church.

Helen was employed at Jackson County Insurance, Nolting’s IGA and Indiana Telephone Corp., for Dr. Kloppenburg and retired from Brownstown Electric Supply Co. Inc. She is a member of Brownstown Christian Church, where she has served in Sunday school and women’s programs.
