Phillip S. Hunter “Steve” or “Uncle Buzz”, 72, died peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2020 in Nashville, IN under Hospice care after a long, brave battle with Cancer. Steve was born on November 2, 1947 and was one of four sons to the late Robert L. and Elizabeth Hunter of Columbus.

Steve grew up in Seymour, IN where he excelled in swimming and basketball. He was a graduate of Seymour High School, class of 1966 and then proudly served his country in The United States Air Force.

Steve enjoyed singing karaoke, sci-fi movies, computers, music, cooking, wine, and the ocean. He didn’t know a stranger and loved to make people laugh, even in his highest peaks of pain. He always had the most positive outlook on life no matter how hard times were and he knew as a child of Christ his soul would be eternal.

He is survived by his ex-wife and good friend, Nancy Hunter, daughters Lisa and Carrie Hunter, brothers Bob, Ron and Greg Hunter, grandchildren Olivia Hunter, Terrelle Hunter, Trendha Hunter and Kylee Haddix, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 6, 2020 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Day, Jr. officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to The American Cancer Society.
