Mrs. Wanda Lucille Malcomb McClanahan, age 74, of Paris Crossing, Indiana entered this life on May 9, 1946 at the family farm in Paris Crossing, Indiana. The loving daughter of the late Otto Walton and Mary Lucille Rose Malcomb Cart, she resided most of her life on the family farm except for about 10 years in Deputy and Old Paris. Wanda first attended Paris Crossing High School where she was a cheerleader and graduated from Deputy High School in 1964. Wanda married Charles F. McClanahan, her high school sweetheart, on October 3, 1965 in the Lick Branch Baptist Church near Deputy, Indiana. This happy union of 54 years was blessed with daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, and a son, George. Wanda was a devoted wife, loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend. She worked 30 years as a psychiatric attendant at Madison State Hospital. Wanda, who loved raising goats, woodcutting, quilting and crocheting, was a top notch grandma and was known for her famous macaroni and cheese. She was a faithful member of the Coffee Creek Christian Church and was expecting the birth of another great-granddaughter. Wanda fought a six year battle after suffering a massive stroke and was lovingly cared for by her husband and family. Wanda died on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at 9:27 p.m. at her family home in Paris Crossing, Indiana with her loving family at her side.

Wanda will be missed by her loving beloved husband of 54 years, Charles F. McClanahan of Paris Crossing, Indiana; her loving daughters, Mary Cain and her husband, Floyd of Deputy, Indiana, Elizabeth Morris and her husband, Don of North Vernon, Indiana; her loving son, George McClanahan and his wife, Lisa of Paris Crossing, Indiana; her grandchildren, Candi Marie Ashton (Eric), Jessica Marie Cain (Pastor Brynen Chitwood), Wesley Inness Cain, Sara Elizabeth Jolley (Daniel), Elijah James Morris (Alivia), Charles Edward McClanahan, Ashley Katelynn McClanahan, and Haley Taylor Proffitt (J.D.); her great grandchildren, Lane, Luke, Emma and Ariella; her sister, Martha Sinkes of North Vernon, Indiana; her sisters in law, Ella Jean Gammons of Deputy, Indiana, Carolyn Eversole of Madison, Indiana, Mary Evelyn Fredenburgh of Maineville, Ohio, Barbara McClanahan of Deputy, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Walton Malcomb, died April 1, 1959, her mother, Mary Lucille Rose Malcomb Cart, died April 21, 2016, her brothers in law, Donald Sinkes, died March 28, 2019, Ellison H. “Mac” McClanahan, died March 22, 2000, John Jacob McClanahan, died March 21, 2007, her sister in law, Eleanor McClanahan Ray, died February 18, 2014, her father in law and mother in law, George Robert McClanahan, died February 28, 1969 and Margaret Taulman McClanahan, died December 21, 1996, and her grandmother who helped to raise her, Laura Rose Boner Eador, died in 1967.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 5, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Don Morris and Pastor Brynen Chitwood at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Vernon Cemetery, 315 Pike Street in Vernon, Indiana.

Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
