Two peaceful protests/demonstrations are planned for noon to 3 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the farmers market parking lot along Walnut Street in downtown Seymour.

The Seymour Police Department announced on its Facebook page that officers have met with protest organizers and are in complete support of their intent to exercise their First Amendment rights.

The department is reporting these will be nonviolent protests and has stated it will not tolerate criminal activity within their ranks.

The department is asking the public to observe its right to demonstrate and to not spread false information about this event or its purpose.

Seymour police reported they are in full cooperation with the organizers and will be working together to ensure a peaceful and safe event for everyone.
