Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Wineinger, of Weddleville passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 12, 2020. He was 84.

Gene entered this life on May 10, 1936 in Medora, Indiana. He was the third born to parents Millard and Ethel (Pray) Wineinger. Gene spent his life in Jackson County. He was a graduate of Medora High School. On July 11, 1953 Gene married Illa Jean (Shepard) Wineinger. From this blessed union of 33 years they were blessed with Donald, Danny, and Teresa. Illa preceded Gene on July 8, 1986. Gene was able to find love again and married Alberta Faye Coryea Scott Wineinger on April 9, 1988, at the Medora Pentecostal Church.

Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors if it could be hunted in Jackson County, Gene hunted it. He could be found working his puzzle books, reading his bible, raising his cattle, and enjoying his Boston Terrier, Butterball.

He was a member of the Medora Pentecostal Church. He loved serving his church.

Gene was an engine tester for Cummins Engine Company. He retired after 31 years.

Surviving to cherish his memories, his wife of 32 years, Alberta, children, Rev. Donald Wineinger and his wife Sandy of Lexington, GA, Danny Wineinger and his wife Debi of Jackson, MO, Teresa Brewer and her husband Mike of Medora, IN, Rev. David J. Scott and his wife Les Ann of Sullivan, IN, and Cindy Brown and her husband Keith of Bedford, IN, and a brother Thomas Wineinger and his wife Mary Lou of Seymour, IN, grandchildren Patrick Wineinger, Amber Smith and her husband Blake, Jobi Hampton, and her husband Tim, Seth Brewer and his wife Carrie, Michah White and her husband Buddy, Jessamy Champion and her husband Ryan, Joseph Scott, Destinee Scott, Matthew Brown and his wife Rachel, Austin Brown and his wife Mallorie, and Heather Douglas and her husband Bradley.

Together Gene and Alberta have 18 great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 33 years Illa, a brother Millard Wineinger, Jr., a sister Anne Catherine Irwin, and a great-grandson Caleb Matthew Brown.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday May 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hague Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Gill and Bishop M.L. Walls officiating.

Burial will be at White River Valley Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the Hague funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, mandated by the state of Indiana the attendance in the chapel will be limited to 25 guests present at a time.

Memorials may be written in Gene’s name to the Medora Pentecostal Church Nehemiah Project.

Gene’s final wishes have been entrusted to Hague Funeral Home of Medora.
