Rudy Baker, 75, of Scottsburg, IN, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2020. He was born in Seymour, IN, the son of Robert A. and Bonnie J. (Eisele) Baker. On June 7, 1963, in Seymour, IN, he married Marilyn Sue Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Johnny, and sister Roberta Stringer. He is survived by his wife, and children, Teresa Baker, Tammy (Jerry) Edwards, Tim Baker, and Tom (Rachel) Baker. He is also survived by his brothers: Robert “Bob” Baker, Steve Baker, and Terry Baker Sr.; and sister: Patsy Fluharty.

He was a member of The Brownstown Nazarene church where he served in multiple capacities over several decades. He served on the church board, was a Sunday School Superintendent, and a Sunday School teacher. After moving to Scottsburg, he became a member of the Crothersville Nazarene Church. He quickly developed lasting ties with his new church family.

He worked at Cummins Engine Co over the past 52 years. Rudy served in a variety of positions with Cummins over the course of five decades. He worked full time as a factory worker, and also held several positions in the Diesel Workers Union. He felt privileged to represent his coworkers. As a show of respect, Cummins honored Rudy with a moment of silence.

Rudy was introduced to the game of golf as a teenager while working as a caddy at the Seymour Country Club. He developed a love for the game and that passion continued throughout the rest of his life. Several times a year he would travel with friends to play in golf tournaments. He always looked forward to these occasions.

Memorials can be made to Crothersville Nazarene Church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a drive-thru, stay in your car visitation will be conducted at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday, May 10, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Vehicles will have the chance to stop and pay their respects to the family. We ask that you not exit your vehicle. Please enter the visitation line on Chestnut Street and exit out the alley on Fourth Street.

A private funeral service for immediate family will be held at Voss Chapel on Monday, May 11 with Rev. Mark Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. A live stream of the funeral service will be available on the Voss Funeral Service Facebook page on Monday at 1:00 p.m.
